For anyone wanting an easy way to donate money to my friend- pm me and I'll give you my paypal email. You can simply put money there and I'll transfer it to her. We have figured out that the easiest thing is to get money to her for whatever she needs. I'm still going to do a little shopping, and you are welcome to also, but I thought I'd make it easy for you to help! I promise she will end up with every dime!

  2. Oh, if we could only collect enough to abscond to Jamaica! Not for us, but for her!

  3. I know. I wish too. We could use a vacation in Jamaica and so could she!! I'd hate to see what shape Jamaica would be in after we left tho.

  4. Ha! That could be fun. What could happen? We go to bed too early.

  5. I guess we could wear out the rockers on the porch! Or the straps on the lounge by the pool!

  6. You know, not to hijack this or anything, it just reminds me. I have a group of photographer friends from years back. We met in the forums of a stock photo site, and all became good friends. Most of us had not met, at the point where one of the group became pregnant with her first child. I thought it would be fun if we could get her a gift card for Babies-R-Us or something, so I agonized over and over and OVER again, should I send out a msg, soliciting money? So finally I did, and I tripped over myself telling people, y'know, if you could just give $5-10 (there were 9 of us), we could come up with a really good gift card. I was already planning to put in $50, but I didn't tell anyone that. Do you know, those people never hesitated a MOMENT. Not a minute. The money just started pouring into my Paypal account, even from the one group member who was on a very low fixed income. In the end, we ended up with over $250, sent from all over the world! I cried. Like a baby. These people really didn't know me. Not REALLY. They had no clue what I'd do with the money. This kind of stuff really reaffirms my faith in people. :)

  7. Hijack away Kippy! That's an amazing story. I do think people want to give- want to know they're making a difference. And every little bit helps. $10 may not seem like a lot, but when you put it with $25 from here, $15 from there, it starts to add up!

  8. That's the way we felt at first too...like should we? But...with a good group of real people, even in a virtual space---that's how it goes. It's great.

  9. I've had wonderful luck with people helping to donate. Hell, people are even sending BIRTHDAY cards for my Gram! I mean, it's a small thing for most. Like $2.50 for a card or something? But it really gets me excited to send her a little package in January. :)

  10. I don't know if everyone realizes Kat is in on this with me. She's the one who told me about the problem to begin with- I just took over from there! LOL!
