Samuel Dixon, Executive Director of UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) died in the earthquake in Haiti. Two other board members were trapped 55 hours in a collapsed hotel. UMCOR has resolved that 100% of donations to Haiti will go to the cause- no administrative costs will be taken out.

  1. Our church is joining in the aide to Haiti. I can't imagine what these people are enduring.

  2. I had to turn the news today. They had video of dump trucks bringing bodies to put in mass graves- by the truckload. It was awful. My son is National Guard and they're on 48 hour stand-by to be sent over there.

  3. I can't watch the news about this. It's just so gruesome. I'm sorry to hear about the Exec. Dir. though. Thanks for posting the link.

  4. I've had several people ask if I knew a good relief charity to make a donation to so I thought I'd post this. If you want to give to the Haiti relief efforts, this is one iof the best. Their network is already established there- they had people on the ground before this happened. There were two teams from Charlotte there when the earthquake hit, too. They made it home safely.
