Oconoluftee River

Our mission work is done and it is on to a day of play! This afternoon, we're in the river. This is a beautiful place in the middle of the Cherokee reservation. Tomorrow is rafting down the Nantahala and Friday, we meet Susan and her family at Dollywood! I'm gonna need a nap on Saturday!

  1. Thanks. That's Savannah in the river with another child from our church- and it seems they've adopted a Cherokee child for the afternoon!

  3. I lived and worked on the Oglala Sioux Indian reservation near Pine Ridge SD for a while. Wonderful experience. One I would never have thought I would enjoy and look back on with fondness (even though I lost the tip of a finger while there). Such a rich and alive culture and people.

  4. I have had a fabulous time! Met some wonderful people I plan to stay friends with! And been given gifts by people who have nothing, when it was supposed to be about giving to them!

  5. That's a very poor area. We went through there two years ago. What did you do there?
