It's Here! It's Here!

This is our vacation this year:

(The picture looks funny because I took it from the kitchen window.) I decided that this was such a good deal (can you say 24' pool for $1300?) that we'd not go to the beach this year and use our vacation money on the pool. We are going to Cherokee, NC on a mission trip (that costs $100 per person!) and may do a couple of fun things while we're in the mountains. But this is our vacation.

This is what I found when I first got home today:

It has been so fun to watch them build this. They'll be done later on tonight. We can't swim in it for maybe 3 days or so- the fire department came and filled it from the hydrant, so the water is COLD!

Now we can finish the patio and have a lot of fun outside this summer!

  1. Awesome Jan...yeah when the fire dept fills it up, that water is freezing cold...lol Do you have a solar cover for it? Put that thing on and it will heat it up faster and keep the heat from the sunlight in during the evening hours. Have fun with it.

  2. Not much need for a solar cover in NC- not this time of the year anyway. It was 90 today and should be tomorrow, so it will heat up pretty quickly. I might get one at the end of summer so we can enjoy it a little longer. I'll see how it goes.

  3. Ok, I should be at your house in about 3 days for swimming! *giggles*

That pool will bring you years of fun! I can see BBQ's, swimming. I'm so happy you were able to get that.
    Huggles,
    Jamie

  4. I am SOOOO jealous. You have the perfect yard for a pool!! That would be my vacation happily!! You are going to LOVE that. When the patio is done and you have the cabana up, tiki bar and twinkle lights...***sigh*** I can just see it now. Palm trees swaying in the breeze....They have this wonderful vinyl "wood" decking now too that would be awesome around the whole thing. I HAVE to win the lottery.

  7. It is going to take awhile to get everything set the way I want it. That all sounds good- well, except for the palm trees. They don't grow well here!

  11. I have a solution of course...those electric ones that are only lights, but look like a palm at night. We'll keep it on the other side of the tiki hut to avoid shocks.

  12. Fantastic idea! We have considered doing this many times, but our next door neighbor loves for us to use their heated above ground pool.

What is the mission? I would love to hear more about that. I am going to Tijuana with AMOR Ministries this August. This is my third year going, but my first without my family. We build a house in four days for a needy family.
