Photo Tag: Stolen from Doug, Abby, Kat, and probably a few other people!

I won't tag anyone, but if you wish to do so, you can join in. Here are the rules, as copied from Doug, Abby, Kat, and who knows who else at this point!

Go to the sixth photo album on your Multiply site.

Go to the sixth (or last) photo in that album and post it to your blog.

Tell the story behind the photo.

Here's mine:

This picture is from my birthday trip to Virginia. As we rode bikes down the mountain, Savannah and Scott went crawdad hunting in the creek. Here, Scott is holding one they caught while Savannah gives him a "thumbs up."

  5. Wow, you weren't far from me at all. I'm in Marion now, when I first moved here I lived in Sugar Grove which isn't at all far from Troutdale. It's beautiful country over that way. Actually, I think this whole area is beautiful. I love the mountains here!

  7. Have you ever went to Hungry Mother State Park? If you stay on Rt 16 from Troutdale on through Sugar Grove, down the mountain and through Marion it will take you to Hungry Mother. It's nice there. There's a small beach, lots of places to picnic, places for campers, and they have cabins you can rent.

  8. Wow, that sounds fun! I haven't been up that far. Scott's best friend has some land in Troutdale, but it is really primitive. Outhouse only- no water or electricity. But it is fun!

  9. That sounds like the primitive little old cabin my ex-boyfriend and I moved to when we left Sugar Grove. It's a few miles from Saltville. Allen had all sorts of plans to fix it up but he kept trying to do things without following the codes etc so the cabin is still totally primitive. It used to have a well pump but the pipe rusted through. He hooked together a couple water hoses and ran them from the wet weather spring up on the hillside down to the cabin and hooked it up to a sink. After having no inside plumbing the cold running water seemed like Heaven. lol Problems were, in the wintertime when the weather dropped below 30 the water would freeze, and during periods when it didn't rain much the spring would stop. The living conditions put too much of a strain on our already rocky relationship. We were 'bout ready to kill each other by the time I left him. lol If I told you everything that went wrong there I'm not sure you'd believe it. We even had a huge landslide after we had had a lot of the hillside bulldozed away to make room for septic lines. Then the guy that was supposed to move out the debris from the landslide ripped us off and never did what he was paid to do. We had paid him up front because we fell for his sob story about losing his mobile home because he was behind on the payments. He was Allen's friend so of course Allen believed the guy would never do that. Oh well, the guy died from cancer so there's no use holding hard feelings against him now. Anyway, it was like that land was cursed or something. I'm soooo glad to have electric, indoor plumbing, etc now. Allen is still toughing it out at the cabin. He still has grandiose plans for it too. lol I can't believe I lived that way for 4 and a half years. lol

  10. You don't have to look far to find a lot to be thankful for! I don't think I could have lived like that for long either Sue- good job making it 4 years!
