Im laughing thru most of this. Ive been made fun of the whole time I lived in CA. People think CA. folks are weird cuz they dont freak when it happens. Usually by the time you realize what it is, its over. Now lots of you are going thru it , maybe you will understand it now. lol
It wasn't scary. Just freaky because we all came out of our offices like "is your computer monitor shaking, too?" And we had one here before when I was little. I remember my dad sitting in his recliner and it walking itself across the floor. I don't know how big that one was because I was maybe 5 or 6 years old.
Wow it was felt in many many places. Most of the guys at work thought it more than what we usually get around here. It didn't seem as bad as the one back in 86.
It was odd... I thought something was wrong with the air conditioner because the vent was rattling... then I realized my computer screens (I have two) were moving!
got an email from David saying his whole office [small building on a slab] was shaking and the roof was rattling.... they thought roofers were up there, and then found out it was an earthquake.... glad it was only a small one...
We get earthquakes here in Scotland, Comrie (Perthshire) to be exact. Have done for many years. It's known as "the shaky toon" (due to the quakes. I've relations that live there and they say that the plates fall off the cabinets and pictures move etc...
My house always vibrates when the train goes through Marion so that's what I thought the vibrations were. lol There are a lot of large boulders and slabs of rock under my house so I even feel vibrations when the people across the street pull into their driveway.
Yeah Janet, same with my nephew that lives in Staunton and work in Waynesboro. I was looking at the map yesterday and the epicenter of the quake was a lot closer to them than it is me. Driving distance I'm about 250 miles from it, 'as the crow flies' I'm a little closer than that.
Here's what I lifted from Facebook: NEWS FLASH: The Weather Channel says yesterday's East Coast earthquake was caused by an unknown fault line running under D.C. and through Virginia. It is now being called Obama's Fault, though Obama will say it's really Bush's Fault. Another theory is that it was the founding fathers rolling over in their graves, but I believe what we all thought was an earthquake was actually the effects of a 14.6 trillion dollar check bouncing in Washington.
Other than a couple 3's and 4's I've never experienced a real earthquake. Was this your first bigger one ?
ReplyDeletehold on tightly!

ReplyDeleteI was worried about you and Kat today. I sent you a text because I was at work...and then the battery on my cell phone died! Glad to know you're okay!
ReplyDeleteOne nice thing about MN, don't have em. Well, we do I guess, but barely strong enough to even be called an earthquake.
ReplyDeleteWe have other things to worry about, like Packer backers.

Which is why the UK wants to ban payments by check!
ReplyDeleteReally? I figured that would come one day... we just don't use checks much anymore!
