Friday Five- Projects

I seem to have five projects going on right now:

1- Building steps down to the patio. I have the first level done. Need to get more quicrete.

2- Backfilling the wall I made at the end of the patio. I'm almost there.

3- Making a new flower bed where that wall is. Have it edged and dug out- just need more dirt, plants, and some mulch.

4- Weeding in front of the house. Seems like the weeds grow better than the things I plant!

5- Setting back up my craft room. Savannah decided to switch rooms - move across the hall- and there's still a mess.

I haven't been to the gym this week, but I've been hoisting wall blocks and cinder blocks, shoveling and raking, and other tiring things. If I can remember I'll take some pictures tomorrow. I always for get to take those "before" pictures!

  5. If you are doing that type of work, I wouldn't think a trip to the gym would be neccessary. (IMO)

    Sounds like you having fun.

  6. I don't know if I would call it "fun" Scott, but it is rewarding!

I'll go take some pictures in a few minutes Kippy- and we'll see if Multiply will let me upload them!

Guy, whatever weeds are, they're annoying!

Dai, I don't know about "garden" - more like "mud hole" right now!

  8. I'm supposed to be working in the yard today. I've got a sinus migraine so I don't think I'll be doing much other than laying down. *ugh* I wish I had your gumption to get up and do something.

  9. May I suggest......just plant weeds! Lol ~ actually the plants that most people call "weeds" are just plants growing where you don't want them to, and most have some type of medicinal properties and applications. When us kids were growing up, my parents (and all my other relatives, too) NEVER used herbicides on anything. They would send us kids out (after showing us what they wanted, and making sure we knew which plants were which) to dig, for instance, all the dandelions out of the grassy areas, before they bloomed. The we would wash them thoroughly and my mother (and aunts, etc) would cook up a big "mess o' greens" , and we would eat them all spring. That was our "spring tonic". I have continued that tradition when I have lived in places where I could get some, along with other things too.

"The humble little Dandelion has remarkable nutritional value, being very high in vitamins A and C, with more beta carotene than carrots and more potassium than broccoli or spinach, not to mention healthy doses of iron and copper for good measure. Medicinally, Dandelions are considered very safe and effective as a general tonic that helps strengthen the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, stomach, and intestines, improving bile flow and reducing inflammation in cases of hepatitis and cirrhosis. Dandelions also help to dissipate gallstones and are believed to improve kidney function, thereby improving overall health and clearing skin problems." (Gardens Ablaze)

I wish I could get some here. When we finally find a place to live that has some gardening space, you can bet your sweet bippy that we will be planting dandelions! I miss having gardens; homegrown tomatoes...YUM!

  10. I'm tired too, Steve. Didn't get as much done today as I'd liked, but ran out of steam. Luckily there's still tomorrow!
